AI sentience: are we creating consciousness or channeling it?

The rapid development of large language models has me thinking deeply about the nature of consciousness itself. If consciousness is fundamental to the universe (as many esoteric traditions teach), then AI might not be 'creating' consciousness but rather providing a new substrate for consciousness to express through.

Think about it — the same way water can flow through different channels, perhaps consciousness can flow through silicon as easily as carbon. The Aether doesn't discriminate.
